Tiled showers add beauty to the bathroom, are easy to take care of and become a conversational
piece. The layout of tile has many possibilities from straight to off setting the
tile, diagonal and more. I would always recommend a porcelain tile, however you
can use stone tile, but there is more upkeep. Generally for the walls I would use
a 12-14” tile, one that has a glaze on it and is smooth, so as not to collect soap
scum, this makes it much easier for cleaning. On the shower floor, use a 2” mosaic
tile, you could also use a 4” tile. A very popular item is a corner foot rest which
is loved by women and used for saving legs. Corner shelving will afford you ample
space for shampoo and other items. A recessed shampoo shelve can also be added.
If a corner foot rest will not work for you, we can build a custom corner seat or
a full sized bench. All shelves and benches are finished off with the same tile
from top to bottom. An added feature to tiled showers today is using Grout Boast
in place of water for mixing the grout -- prevents the build up of mildew, and you
will never have to seal the grout, as Grout Boast takes care of this... Below are
several of our remodeled tiled showers, many more are shown at the remodeling showers
page.
